So the rule before "not doing the grocery shopping hungry", is not to buy anything at the supermarket you should not eat. Fried foods, potato chips, white chocolate, processed foods, white bread and rice, etc are no longer worthy of your shopping list. Spend more time examining the labels. How much sugar does your regular juice box contain? Buy real maple syrup, not the sugary one.
But the absolute critical thing is DO NOT shop when you are hungry. Not only will you buy yourself an 'easy to eat' snack to have 'on the go' (notoriously chips or chocolate bar) but you will also buy foods which satisfy your hunger pangs. This is dangerous because you will end up with a trolley full of potato chips and 'easy to eat' treats. Once those 'easy to eat' treats (which are almost never healthy) are in your pantry then you will feel you simply have to eat them or its a waste of money.
So its simple:
1. Don't buy anything you shouldn't eat at the supermarket.
2. Don't shop when you are hungry so you are tempted to buy things you shouldn't eat!
So shop after a main meal, or eat a piece of fruit on the way to keep the hunger dragon at bay!
